Workshop: Android for iOS Developers
This is the third workshop organized by the Swiss Mobile Developers Association.
In this brand new workshop, local speaker, author and trainer Adrian Kosmaczewski, will introduce the Android platform and development tools/concepts to the iOS developers. This workshop is intended to mid/advanced iOS developers interested in starting to develop on the Android Platform.
When: March 17th, 2017
Where: Zürich, venue to be defined
Length: Full-day, 8:30 – 17:30
Good news: Android and iOS have a lot in common. Bad news: they have seriously big differences in approach, style and philosophy.
How can one find its way? This is a one day workshop for iOS developers, either experts in Objective-C or Swift, looking to learn more about Android but feeling overwhelmed by online tutorials, StackOverflow questions and books of dubious quality. It will provide the required pointers for them to get used to Android Studio, to understand the basic ideas behind Android, and to find their way as they build simple applications.
After the workshop, attendees should feel comfortable finding their way across the Java language libraries, and throughout the Android ecosystem.
This workshop will cover:
- Introduction to Android development from an iOS developer perspective
- Introduction to the Android development toolchain and IDE(s)
- Basic Android concept
- Tour of the most used Android libraries
- Tour of the similarities and differences of the 2 platforms
WHAT HARDWARE/SOFTWARE DO YOU NEED?
You will need to bring a laptop, preferably a Mac, but Android Studio works on Windows and Linux as well.
